________The Blank Tapes have plucked bits of all early forms of American music, making their own fragrant potpourri of folky-bluegrass-alternative-country-rock. OC Weekly calls their sound “part travelogue, part campfire cookout, part intoxicating love sonnet, and part late night hoot.” With influences ranging from Ray Davies, Frank Black, Beck, and Leonard Cohen, The Blank Tapes adds up to a strange yet scrumptious blend of acoustic guitar art meanderings.” The group is essentially made up of Matt Adams and other various musicians joining him for live shows. Born and raised in Newport Beach, California, Matt broke out of the stale conservative attitude of the town to write music from a different place and time. 8 years after picking up a guitar, he has written over a hundred songs and has learned to play several other instruments including bass, drums, banjo, mandolin and organ. With 2 California tours under their belt and a massive west coast tour in the works, The Blank Tapes are busy spreading their one-of-a-kind music to all that desire an eclectic show with an evolving lineup of players.

________ On The Blank Tapes’ official debut album, Country Western Honky Tonk Saloon Blues, the main objective was to capture a raw sound with as little polishing and effects as possible. This was possible by using an early nineties Tascam 8-track cassette tape recorder which inspired the name of the band. The CD consists of 24 songs completely recorded, written, and played by Matt Adams with the exception of a couple guest vocals and sax solos. The highly acclaimed album is currently being played on college radio stations throughout California with some live performances on KUCI 88.9FM & LA’s 97.1FM Conway & Steckler Show. The Blank Tapes are currently settled in LA and frequently gigging all around Southern California. -Matt Adams
